Len was Chief Executive of the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) from April 2003 until his retirement in March 2014.
Previously he was with Lloyd’s Register (LR), where he was initially responsible for creating cultural change in the non-marine sector, from a prescriptive, standards-based regime to a more modern risk based approach to asset integrity assurance.
Latterly, he was appointed Director for LR’s Global Transportation Business, where he was responsible for developing services in the rail sector.
Following an early career in the 1970s as a metallurgist in the aviation sector, several years were then spent as a project engineer, project manager and commercial diver on worldwide offshore oil and gas infrastructure inspection and maintenance contracts.
This experience was used in the early 1980s to set up a successful engineering risk assessment and asset integrity management company which was acquired by Lloyd’s Register in the mid-1990s.
As eAssetM enters a phase of rapid growth, Len will be our Non-Exec Chair bringing his experience of asset management in complex industries, together with his personal experience of successfully growing a small business to help us on our journey.
